The Institute for Jaques-Dalcroze Education, LLC
An Introduction
The Institute for Jaques-Dalcroze Education, LLC is owned and operated by Monica Dale and Jack Stevenson, two internationally recognized Jaques-Dalcroze pedagogues. The main teaching component of the Institute is the itinerant summer program held at various locations around the United States. The program provides hands-on experience of the Jaques-Dalcroze method: Eurhythmics, Solfege, and Improvisation, as well as Jaques-Dalcroze pedagogy and philosophy, and prepares candidates for the examinations, which leads to the Jaques-Dalcroze Teaching Certificate.
Certification is achieved by completing a four-module series of course work or its equivalent and examinations in the Core Subjects and Pedagogy. Please see Jaques-Dalcroze Certification. The Jaques-Dalcroze Teaching License examinations may be granted to individuals who have completed the Jaques-Dalcroze Certificate and a one-year residency with Jack Stevenson or Monica Dale.
Again this year, the 2010 Summer Institute is sponsored by and in residence at The Lucy School in Middletown, MD, from July 19-30. The 2010 program offers Modules I, II and III in two weeks of courses. A Certificate of Completion is granted after each module is successfully completed. The International Jaques-Dalcroze Certificate is granted after four modules or their equivalent are complete.
With its pastoral setting, picturesque mountain scape, and state-of-the-art facilities, The Lucy School offers the perfect location for exploring ones transformational power in music and music teaching through the direct experience in the Jaques-Dalcroze Method. Here at the Lucy School, The Institute For Jaques-Dalcroze Education allows one to gain new insights into music, and develop unique skills, strategies, and inspiration for music performance and teaching.
