The Institute for Jaques-Dalcroze Education is an itinerant summer program held at various locations around the United States, which provides hands-on experience of the Jaques-Dalcroze method: Eurhythmics, Solfege, and Improvisation, as well as Jaques-Dalcroze pedagogy and philosophy. The Institute offers the Certificate and the License Jaques-Dalcroze to candidates who have completed the prescribed requirements.

The Jaques-Dalcroze Certificate affords the receipient the right to teach using the Principles of a Jaques-Dalcroze Education to children and adults.

The Jauqes-Dalcroze License affords the receipient the right to teach Eurhythmics to children and adults.

The Diplôme Superior Jaques-Dalcroze affords the receipient the right to teach the Method Jaques-Dalcroze (Eurhythmics, Solfege, Improvisation), and the right to train teachers in and through the Method. The Diplômeé is recognized as a legal reprensetative of the Method Jaques-Dalcroze by the Collège and Foundation Jaques-Dalcroze, Geneva Switzerland.

The summer institute program prepares candidates for the Jaques-Dalcroze Teaching Certificate through direct experience in the Jaques-Dalcroze Method, gaining new insights into music and developing unique skills, strategies, and inspiration for music performance and teaching. The Institute for Jaques-Dalcroze Education presents a series of four MODULES. After Module I is complete the candidate may take the remaining three modules in any order. A Certificate of Achievement is awarded after each module is complete. Once having successfully completed all four modules or their equivalent, the candidate is awarded the Certificate Jaques-Dalcroze granting the right to employ the Principles of a Jaques-Dalcroze Education in their own teaching. The Certificate is the first step toward the License Jaques-Dalcroze, and eventually the Diplôme Superior Jaques-Dalcroze.

Each module is a total of 30 class hours, which is usually done over a period of five days. At the end of modules II, III and IV there is a series of short exams that cover the curriculum taught within that module. Jaques-Dalcroze Pedagogy is offered in all four modules with the opportunity to student teach in Modules II, III, and IV.

MODULE III: Form: Designs for Music, Movement, and Teaching

MODULE IV: Making Connections: Practical applications of the Dalcroze Method

Each Module offers the core subjects: ten hours of Eurhythmics, seven hours of solfege, and seven hours of improvisation. The three core subjects are structured to reflect the specific theme of the Module. Students should be prepared to demonstrate a moderate level of skill in all three subjects by the end of each Module to receive the Achievement Certificate.

In Module I there are six hours of pedagogical observation, discussion and analysis. In Modules II, III, IV students are given three fifteen-minute periods to student teach a total of 30 minuets on a pass or fail basis. Detailed preparation precedes while constructive critical analysis follows each lesson. Students must achieve two passes (within three tries) to be awarded the Achievement Certificate.

The Jaques-Dalcroze Teaching License examinations may be granted to individuals who have completed the Jaques-Dalcroze Certificate and a one-year residency with Jack Stevenson or Monica Dale.
